Monday started the way so many weeks do: back to school and back to work.
The end of the quarter had work moving quickly, while Jasper was having his own busy week at school. He also started transitioning into his new classroom as he prepares to move into Early Preschool 2 next week. Watching him move through these little stages of childhood is always a reminder of how quickly he’s growing.
Tuesday and Wednesday followed much the same pattern.
Work.
School.
Dinner.
Family time.
Nothing particularly dramatic, but plenty happening in the background.
Thursday was a shorter school day for Jasper, which meant one very important thing: swimming.
The pool continues to be one of his favorite places, and it’s been amazing watching his confidence grow over the past few months. Every lesson brings another little bit of progress.
Friday was different.
My partner was officially off for her birthday weekend extravaganza, while I spent most of the day working hard and trying to get everything ready for what I knew was going to be a very busy weekend.
Friday night gave us a chance to slow down a little.
We had dinner with my parents and my aunt to celebrate my partner’s birthday. It’s always nice getting everyone together, and having family around for these moments makes birthdays feel even more special.
Then Saturday began Day 1 of the two-day extravaganza.
The morning was relaxed. We took it easy around the house, and I worked during Jasper’s nap before we headed over to the Gurdwara to meet Nanu, Nani, and my partner.
This weekend wasn’t just about celebrating a birthday.
My partner decided she wanted to sponsor the langar for her birthday, which meant Saturday became a day of food preparation and getting everything ready for Sunday.
And Sunday was a big one.
We spent a long day at the Gurdwara preparing, serving, celebrating, and spending time with the community.
What made the day especially meaningful was seeing how many people showed up.
Friends.
People we hadn’t seen in years.
Even old neighbors.
At one point, it felt like there were nearly 200 people there.
Seeing that kind of turnout for my partner’s birthday was pretty incredible.
But more than the number, it was the connections.
People taking time out of their Sunday to come celebrate with her.
People catching up after years apart.
People sharing food and conversation.
Jasper running around and being surrounded by people who love him.
It was one of those days where you look around and realize how big your community really is.
By the end of it, we were exhausted.
But it was the good kind of exhausted.
The kind that comes from spending a long day with family, friends, and people who matter.
This week started with quarter-end work and a toddler moving into his next classroom.
It ended with a birthday, a full Gurdwara, langar, old friends, new memories, and a community coming together.
Some weeks are about getting things done.
Some weeks are about celebrating the people you’re doing it all for.
This week was a little bit of both. ❤️
