Have you ever felt both excited and a little overwhelmed when stepping into a brand-new season of life?
That’s exactly where we found ourselves this past Wednesday. My partner and I attended orientation for Jasper’s very first day of half-day daycare, starting May 6. It’s a big step, not just because it’s daycare, but because it could also be where he continues into preschool.
For my partner, the emotions were high and understandably so. This is her first time going through this experience. Trusting someone else with our little guy’s care is a big leap. For me, it’s a little easier to accept; I grew up in daycare myself, so the concept feels more familiar. Still, all those feelings hit differently when we walked into Jasper’s future classroom, seeing firsthand where he’ll be learning, playing, and growing in just a few short weeks.
Meanwhile, work didn’t slow down for any of this.
The end of the fiscal month always brings its own chaos, and this week was no different. I’m still amazed by the sheer amount of energy it takes to get across the finish line, but we got there. And while every business always wants better numbers, I’m proud of the progress we made and feel optimistic about what’s ahead next month.
Through all of this busyness, I’ve been continuing my commitment to personal growth, trying to build deeper foundations in both faith and meditation.
My goal? To not just grow for myself, but to build a life steady enough, deep enough, that it can become a safe place for Jasper when his own questions about the world start to rise. I don’t want to just react; I want to walk with him, step by step, into the wonder of it all.
It’s a slow becoming.
It’s the kind of work that doesn’t always show in the mirror but quietly shapes who we are when it matters most.
Maybe you’re in a season like that too.
Maybe right now, the growth feels hidden. Maybe the ground is still frozen where you are, and the seeds you planted haven’t broken through yet.
Trust it anyway.
The best things we build — the love, the faith, the courage — are always built one small, invisible day at a time.
And so, with gratitude for where we are and hope for where we’re going, I’ll close with a simple Sikh mantra that continues to steady our family’s steps:
“Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh.”
(The Khalsa belongs to God, victory belongs to God.)
