A Quarter’s End, A Fresh Start
Why I’m Re-evaluating Now Instead of December
This week marks the beginning of a reevaluation of 2025—not in December like most people do, but right now. Normally, year-in-review season comes with twinkling lights, cold weather, and New Year’s resolutions that may or may not stick past January 15th. But I don’t want to wait that long.
Instead, I’ve decided to zero in on one major task for the 4th quarter—a single focus that could create a drastic individual change before the New Year even arrives. By October 1st, my mission is to know exactly what that one thing will be. No pressure, right?
Meanwhile, at work, the end of the 3rd quarter brought a sense of “mild success.” Think of it like passing your driving test but stalling out on the way home. We hit some wins, gained clarity on the next steps, and left me both grateful for progress and aware that I’ve got catching up to do personally.
To cap off the week, I’ve been staying at my parents’ house while they’re off enjoying Las Vegas (hopefully not leaving all their winnings at the blackjack table). That’s meant extra time with their dog—never a bad tradeoff.
Sunday brought us back to the temple in Richfield, and let’s just say it was not the peaceful reset I had envisioned. The service turned dramatic, ending with a discussion of the Ohio constitution, the police, and one individual battling their own demons in a very public way. I found myself praying not just for them, but also for the people caught in the middle of the debate. It wasn’t exactly the clarity I was seeking, but sometimes that’s how life works—messy, unexpected, and still full of lessons.
So here I am: quarter-end behind me, one big decision in front of me, and a lot of self-evaluation in between. October 1 is the deadline, and as I set my sights on choosing that “one thing” for the final stretch of 2025, I invite you to think about yours—what’s the single focus that could shift your next three months before the calendar turns?
