First Taste of Sweet Potatoes for Our 6-Month-Old Baby
Exploring new flavors at six months with sweet potatoes and the joys of introducing solid foods
This week brought a mix of excitement and challenges for our family as we continue navigating life with our growing 6-month-old. One of the highlights was his latest venture into solid foods, with sweet potatoes being the newest addition. It was an instant hit—he couldn’t get enough of them, and they’ve definitely earned a top spot on his list of favorites. Watching him discover new flavors has been such a joy, and it’s exciting to see his reactions. But the food journey isn’t over yet; next on the menu is peas. I’m curious to see how he’ll take to them, though I have a feeling some might end up in our curry before the week’s over!
Alongside the food milestones, we faced another first: two nights without Mom. My partner had to make a work trip to the office, leaving me to manage solo with bedtime routines. It was an adjustment for everyone, especially our little guy. He definitely wasn’t thrilled about the change, and his sleep schedule took a hit. Saturday, his 6-month birthday, was particularly tough when he decided to wake up at 4 a.m. ready to play! The day was exhausting for all of us, and we even had to cancel a planned zoo trip since none of us had the energy for it. As the fatigue set in, emotions ran high, and I’ll admit that I struggled to keep my cool. It was a reminder that managing stress and emotions during sleepless, unpredictable times is a constant learning curve. Still, we made the best of it, managing to get some rest before heading to the temple to celebrate his 6-month milestone. While we weren’t fully refreshed, the special occasion reminded us just how fast our little one is growing!
