📊 Forecast Frenzy: June Came in Hot
The first week of June is always a beast—forecasting week! But with the U.S. holiday on Monday, we had to squeeze five days of work into four. And just to spice things up, we found out that due to our company’s upcoming split, some of the work we did wasn’t even needed this year. Classic corporate curveball.
Still, all that weekend prep paid off. Our forecast submission was accurate and on point—which is exactly what my role calls for. Over-delivering is great, but precision? That’s the real win.
🕯️ Friday Reflections: Honoring Guru Arjan Dev Ji
After a hectic week, Friday brought a moment of peace. We visited the Gurdwara to honor the martyrdom of Guru Arian Dev Ji, the fifth Sikh Guru. In 1606, he was imprisoned and tortured under political pressure, yet remained spiritually composed until the end.
If you’re curious to learn more, here are a couple of great reads:
We wore black, joined in prayer, and shared a meal in the Langer (community kitchen). A powerful, grounding way to end the week.
🌧️ Saturday Setback: Rain, Rain, Go Away
We had big plans for a zoo day, but the weather had other ideas. Instead, we made a trip to the mall to stretch our legs and salvage the day. Not quite the adventure we hoped for, but not a total loss either. The zoo’s still on our radar—hopefully soon!
🕊️ Sunday: A Day of Remembrance
June 1st also marks a solemn moment in Sikh history: the beginning of Operation Blue Star in 1984. It was a tragic time that led to civilian casualties and long-lasting unrest. The Gurdwara served as a space for reflection and healing—a reminder of the importance of peace and remembrance.
👶 Why This Matters: Jasper’s Journey
I don’t usually go this deep into Sikh history, but this week felt different. With Jasper growing up in a home that honors both Sikh and Christian traditions, we want him to understand both sides of his heritage and make his own choices.
If this resonates with you, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Let’s start a conversation in the comments.
🚀 Bonus: A Free 3-Week Adventure
I recently launched a free 3-week journey over on my Buy Me A Coffee page, diving into my personal path with Sikhism—its highs, lows, and how it’s evolved now that I’m a parent. If you’re curious about faith, identity, or just want to follow along, I’d love for you to check it out. First addition will be out this Saturday , June 8, 2025 at https://buymeacoffee.com/davidbanigjr
Thanks for reading! Whether you're here for the work updates, the spiritual reflections, or just the zoo drama—I appreciate you.
Until next week,
David
