Home Sweet Hometown
Jasper begins a new adventure as we settle into a house in Daddy’s hometown, creating memories where it all began.
The past few weeks have been a whirlwind for Jasper, my partner, my mother-in-law, and me. Moving with an 8-month-old has proven to be quite the challenge, especially when bedtime gets interrupted by late-night closings or house showings. Missing out on his regular wind-down routine has made the transition harder for all of us.
As we’ve discussed here before, children thrive on routine, and ours has been thrown off balance. Our recent trip to Arizona already disrupted Jasper’s sleep schedule, and we haven’t been able to fully get back on track since returning. Add the chaos of packing, paperwork, and days spent away from home for showings, and you can imagine how much we’re all longing for a little normalcy. Jasper’s sleep has been all over the place, but I’m optimistic that we’ll soon find our rhythm again.
Amid the chaos, there’s been a huge silver lining: we got the keys to our new home! It feels so good to have a place that’s truly ours, a home where Jasper can grow and where we can create countless memories as a family. What makes it even more special is that it’s only a mile and a half from his grandma and grandpa, making it easier for them to be a big part of his life.
While the current disruption of his routine has been tough, I keep reminding myself that this is only temporary. Soon enough, the showings will end, the boxes will be unpacked, and Jasper can finally settle into his new space—and, hopefully, his regular sleep schedule too!
