This week has been an extremely busy one at work. I have a ton of development to finish as we head into next week, making for some long days. But coming off one of the most fun parties I’ve had in a while—celebrating Jasper’s big first birthday—has definitely made it all worthwhile.

The lead-up to the party was non-stop. We were deep in last-minute party prep right up until the event on Saturday afternoon. In fact, we were still making adjustments as our first guests arrived at 10:45 a.m. for the official 11:00 a.m. start time.

On top of Jasper’s birthday, Friday itself was packed with meaning. It was Holi, the Festival of Colors, which made for a vibrant celebration in its own right. Pi Day gave the math lovers something to celebrate, and it was also the Punjabi New Year, making it a significant day for my fellow Punjabis. With all of that already happening, Jasper’s birthday just made the day even more special (and chaotic).

Saturday was the main event—a birthday bash filled with friends and family. My partner truly outdid herself. From the decorations to the activities, everything was incredible. The kids were calling it “the best party ever,” and it wasn’t just the little ones—everyone had a great time. I honestly can’t give my partner enough credit for making it all happen.

We wrapped up the night in the best way possible: a bonfire with my best friend, family, and even some new neighbors. It was the perfect ending to an already unforgettable day. Even Jasper wasn’t ready for the fun to end—he woke us up at 1 a.m., still ready to party!

The celebrations continued into Sunday with a second trip to the temple. We received a special blessing for Jasper’s next year of life and shared a meal to close out the weekend. It was the perfect way to end such a meaningful and joyous few days—an unforgettable first birthday weekend.
