Jasper’s Busy Week
Birthdays, Tantrums & Temple Time
Hey friends,
Another week in the books, and this one was packed with celebrations, toddler adventures, and plenty of family time. Here’s the latest from life with Jasper and the crew.
🎉
The Boss Turns a Year Wiser
Tuesday was my mother-in-law’s birthday—though around here, she’s better known as Boss (or Nani in Punjabi). She’s earned that title because, even from India, she still finds a way to guide us, correct us, and keep us on track—just like any good boss would.
For her birthday, we gifted her a new tea mug (because every Boss needs her proper tools) and celebrated with an eggless cake from the local Indian store. It wasn’t the best cake we’ve had, but hey—it’s the thought (and the frosting) that counts.

New Ride, New Tantrums
Jasper is still obsessed with his new remote-control car, but we hit a bit of a snag this week—pre-dinner tantrums. He loved the car so much that getting him out of it when dinner was ready became a full-on showdown.
For now, we’re parking the car (literally) and focusing on more important things—like walking. One milestone at a time!

Special Visit to Solon Temple
Saturday took us to the Solon Temple for a special speaker event and to catch up with friends. Their kids had just wrapped up Punjabi Sikh Summer Camp, and it got me thinking—Jasper will be in those shoes in a few years.
It’s inspiring to see that community connection growing, and it makes me excited for the experiences ahead for him.

Dinner & Celebrating My Second Cousins
We ended Saturday by joining family and friends to celebrate the retirement of my second cousins, Mike & Cheryl, with dinner at Hartville Kitchen.
The meal? Classic comfort food: I had 5 chicken tenders, fries, a fruit cocktail, and mac & cheese. My partner, Jasper, and I topped it all off with some dessert. I don’t eat much meat anymore, but sometimes you make exceptions for moments like these. The only complaint? That drive home felt extra long after a big meal.

Sunday: Back to Our Temple Routine
Sunday marked a week since our trip to the Fort Wayne Temple, so we made our way back to our usual temple in Richfield. It felt good to be back, and honestly, I was surprised by how many people noticed we’d missed just one week—both in English and Punjabi.
It’s little moments like that which remind me how important these connections are—not just for us, but for Jasper too.
Life Lately: birthdays, bonding, and the balancing act of toddler moods.
If you want to see photos from our recent road trip, temple visits, and family fun, I’ve shared them on my Buy Me a Coffee page ☕. Your support there helps me keep sharing these updates—and most of it is free to follow along.
Until next time,
David
