Hello from Phoenix! This week marked Jasper’s first big adventure in the skies, as my partner and I joined my mother in Arizona for a memorable experience. We wanted Jasper to get used to flying with a relatively short trip before taking on a much longer journey to India. The flight itself was eventful, with quite a bit of turbulence—an experience that led to an impromptu lesson from the pilot, who explained that during seasonal changes, especially in the U.S., turbulence is common over mountainous areas like the Rockies. It’s one of those moments we’ll always remember from his very first flight!
The dry desert climate has posed its own challenges for our little one, with some sniffles and sleep issues that we suspect are either due to desert allergies or the typical effects of travel. Adjusting to new equipment and an entirely different landscape has been an adventure too, as Jasper takes in the unique sights and feels of the desert. Despite the adjustments, it’s been such a joy to see his curious reactions to everything around him. And being able to experience this while I’m on the last stretch of my paternity leave makes it even more meaningful. This time away from work allows me to be present for each new experience, and I’m savoring every moment. Here’s to many more travel milestones with our little explorer!
