As Week 33 draws to a close, we find ourselves in the phase where my partner is feeling a bit more uncomfortable. The baby, however, is thriving, and there's no concern on that front. With the incredible growth we're experiencing, water retention has become a common companion in this phase. Supporting my partner during this time has become a top priority.
Our nightly ritual of reading to the baby has been a source of joy. Sharing my favorite childhood books with my partner, who hails from India, adds a beautiful layer to our anticipation.
This past weekend marked not only my birthday but also our baby shower. As we both eagerly look forward to wrapping up the event, it's clear the focus is shifting to the next stages of our life. Amidst the excitement, juggling party planning with my new position at work has proven challenging. Yet, both of us can't wait for this chapter of celebration to conclude, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in preparing for the next generation.
Here's to navigating the discomfort, celebrating milestones, and eagerly anticipating the arrival of our little one!
Reading for the week:
This week's reading delves into the dynamics of relationships during the transformative period of pregnancy. Reflecting on my own journey, I acknowledge that when the thrill of impending fatherhood hit me, I was fully immersed. After a decade of marriage and numerous adventures together, the excitement was palpable.
However, the book "Love & Respect: The Love She Most Desires; The Respect He Desperately Needs" by Emerson Eggerichs brought a humbling perspective. It prompted me to explore deeper facets of love and respect within the context of our evolving family dynamics.
This book holds sentimental value as it was gifted to us by a couple during the early days of our marriage. While the narrative leans towards a religious perspective, emphasizing biblical principles, I've found that its insights extend beyond religious boundaries. Despite not promoting a religious stance, the lessons are universally applicable.
In exploring the book from a non-religious standpoint, I've discovered profound insights into my partner's thoughts. Even without delving into the scripture, the core teachings resonate, offering valuable perspectives. Surprisingly, I decided to engage with the biblical passages as well, and this added layer provided me with a unique viewpoint that might have otherwise been overshadowed by the excitement of impending parenthood.
I genuinely hope this book becomes a treasure trove of wisdom for all who dive into its pages.
