This week, we encountered some issues with our baby’s stuffy nose. It’s common for babies to experience congestion in their first few months since they primarily breathe through their noses. While we were excited to have reached the one-month milestone, we faced new challenges with keeping our baby’s nose clean.
To help our little one, we’ve found that elevating their head, using saline nose spray, and a nasal aspirator (commonly known as a ‘booger sucker’) have been effective solutions. These methods have helped ease the congestion and improve our baby’s comfort.
Reading for the week:
Today’s reading comes from our children’s book collection: ‘I Wish You Happiness’ by Michael Wong and illustrated by Ann Baratashvili.

This book is truly inspiring, featuring a variety of illustrations including dogs and notable figures like Neil Armstrong. Since we have a dog, I enjoy sharing the different depictions of dogs with my child, which helps cultivate his appreciation for animals. The inclusion of scientific explorers in the book emphasizes the limitless potential of following one’s dreams.
I want my child to always know he’s loved and supported in his ambitions, as long as they align with ethical and legal boundaries. This book is a wonderful resource for nurturing his imagination and sense of possibility.
Bonus for you:
Given the challenges we’ve been facing with stuffy noses and drainage, I want to share a helpful resource we’ve been using. Banner Health, one of the largest health systems in the US, offers a comprehensive article on managing congestion and providing relief for your child. Check it out here for practical tips and guidance. As always make sure to consult your pediatrician as every child is unique. What works for one may not be best for another.
Question of the Week:
How are you managing your child’s drainage? What tips can you share with the community to make nose cleaning easier for little ones?
