Some Weeks Are for Living
Last week was a big week in my world
Projects that had lived on paper became real. Ideas turned into products. New opportunities began to take shape, and months of work finally started paying off.
This week looked much more ordinary.
Jasper went to daycare.
My partner and I went to work.
And every evening, the three of us came back together, settling into the rhythm that quietly holds our family together.
There were no big announcements.
No launches.
No major milestones.
Just life.
Thursday brought one of those moments that reminds me how quickly children grow.
After daycare, I climbed into the pool with Jasper for swimming lessons.
Only a few weeks earlier, everything had been unfamiliar. The water felt big, the movements awkward, and every step required reassurance.
Now there was something different.
Not perfection.
Confidence.
A little more comfort in the water.
A little more independence.
It’s amazing what can change in just a few short weeks when someone simply keeps showing up.
Dinner that evening was Chipotle, one of those easy family meals after a busy day. Jasper happily enjoyed his share, and the night ended the way so many meaningful evenings do—without anything extraordinary happening at all.
Friday followed much the same pattern.
Work.
Daycare.
Family time.
Sometimes that’s enough.
The weekend brought a brand-new adventure.
Potty training officially began.
Like every new milestone, it wasn’t a straight line.
There were successes.
There were misses.
There were reminders, accidents, encouragement, and plenty of laughter.
But there were also real attempts.
And for a dad, that’s often the part worth celebrating most.
You don’t measure progress by perfection.
You measure it by the willingness to try again.
Sunday closed the week the way so many of our Sundays do—with a visit to the gurdwara, a shared meal, and time together before another busy week began.
Looking back, I realized how different this week felt from the one before it.
Last week was full of launches, deadlines, and exciting opportunities.
This week was quieter.
There were fewer accomplishments to post about.
Fewer milestones to celebrate publicly.
But these weeks matter just as much.
The projects will continue to grow.
New opportunities will come.
There will always be another goal to chase.
But the reason I’m building any of it is sitting around the dinner table, watching Jasper learn to swim, helping him figure out how a potty works, and getting to watch him grow one ordinary day at a time.
Some weeks are for launching.
Some weeks are for living.
The truth is, years from now, Jasper probably won’t remember what project I was working on.
He might remember swimming with me.
He might remember laughing through potty training.
He might remember the feeling of having both of his parents there.
And if that’s what he remembers, then this ordinary week was anything but ordinary.
