Traditions, Setbacks, and Small Wins
Ups, Downs, and Full Circles
The week began with a small hiccup — Jasper came down with a cold. As much as we know these little battles help build his immune system, it’s still tough to watch him struggle. Thankfully, he bounced back quickly, crawling around and showing that resilient spirit kids always seem to have.
Work, on the other hand, felt heavier than usual. A sense of directionlessness lingered, though I’m holding onto hope that with the fall season’s big events ahead, clarity will return. Sometimes, the best thing you can do is weather the storm until brighter days roll in.
One bright spot this week was carrying forward a tradition from my own childhood — Pizza Friday. It used to be the highlight of the week after long school days, and now I get to share it with Jasper. Even more special, I introduced the tradition to my Indian in-laws, making it not just about pizza, but about blending cultures and creating new family memories.
Saturday didn’t quite go my way — what should have been a one-hour work project stretched into two, cutting into my only chance to hit the driving range. Add in some last-minute shopping runs, and before I knew it, the day slipped away. Still, an impromptu hangout with the neighbors helped turn things around. Sometimes, laughter is the best salvage plan.
Sunday closed the week on a comforting note. Our morning walk flowed into temple time, where Jasper lit up seeing his friends. Those moments — simple, grounding, and community-centered — are what I find myself most grateful for.
Life’s rhythm isn’t always steady, but weeks like this remind me that even when things don’t go to plan, there are small traditions, unexpected laughs, and sacred routines that make it all worthwhile.
