Week 36 has brought a new dimension to our pregnancy journey as we navigate an unexpected twist. For the first time, one of us is feeling under the weather. Fortunately, if I had to choose, I'm grateful that it's me rather than my partner. It seems to be a mere change-of-seasons drainage, and I'm on the mend. However, being mindful of the fact that pregnant individuals can be potentially immunocompromised, any cold or illness raises concerns. We're thankful that, despite this hiccup, both of us have been relatively healthy throughout this entire process. As we approach the end of week 36, our gratitude for our well-being remains at the forefront of our thoughts.
Reading for the week:
This week my partner and I dove into the pages of a classic and, at times, a controversial wordsmith—Dr. Seuss. This week's spotlight shines brightly on the timeless tale that has left an indelible mark on generations: 'The Cat in the Hat.' A literary companion cherished by many, it's a story that has woven itself into the fabric of childhoods, sparking nostalgia and fostering lively discussions.

Venturing into the whimsical world of 'The Cat in the Hat,' I eagerly awaited my partner's reaction to the original book, which served as the inspiration for the beloved movie featuring a mischievous cat joining kids in their mother's absence. Walking through the pages together, one thing took me by surprise—the sheer length of the book. While the movie provided a familiar context, the realization that this children's classic spans over 50 pages, even with just a few words per page, struck me as intriguing.
Navigating the landscape of Dr. Seuss's 'The Cat in the Hat' in today's nuanced climate brings forth a complex discussion. While acknowledging the broader historical context associated with Dr. Seuss, I choose to delve into the literary charm and humor within the book, setting aside external factors. From the eyes of a child immersing in the narrative, the story remains charming and amusing.
As I contemplate the library of books for our next generation, 'The Cat in the Hat' may not be the initial choice, but the anticipation builds for the day we embark on the journey of learning to read English with this timeless text. The nostalgia of Michelle and Jessie learning to read on 'Full House' adds an extra layer of warmth and familiarity. Did you forget about that charming connection to this book?
