Navigating 6 Month Sleep Regression and Challenges in Week 26
Managing Disrupted Sleep Patterns While Supporting Baby's Growth
Butternut squash is the second solid food we’re introducing to Jasper after a successful try with oats, though oats alone did cause a bit of constipation. Luckily, we’ve managed to keep things balanced, and Jasper’s been a big eater, thanks to my partner’s careful approach. Butternut squash is a great choice, being gentle on his tummy and full of nutrients. Watching him explore new flavors has been both exciting and rewarding as we navigate the challenges of introducing solids.
Sleep training has been a major focus for us this week. After all the recent travels, as mentioned in previous posts, Jasper’s sleep schedule was unknowingly disrupted, leading to some restless nights. It took a while to notice how much it affected him, but once we did, we knew we needed to take action. This week, my partner and I have been working hard to adjust his routine and get him back on track, aiming for a more consistent sleep schedule. While it’s a process, we’re hopeful that sticking to the plan will help restore some balance for all of us.
This week has brought some serious sleep regression for our little 26-week-old. As we discussed a few months back, babies often experience setbacks in their sleeping patterns as they grow and develop, and this week it hit hard. His previously established routine seems to have gone out the window, leaving us with longer nights than we’ve had in a while. We’ve spent hours rocking him back to sleep, trying to soothe him through the night, which has been exhausting but necessary as he’s adjusting to this new phase.
The sudden changes in his sleep triggered the need for us to really reassess his routine and ensure we’re providing the right balance of rest and activity. We realized that some of his cues were changing, and the things that worked before weren’t as effective. So, we’ve made a few adjustments to his bedtime and nap schedule, hoping to get him back on track. It’s been challenging, but those long nights of rocking him remind us that these phases are temporary, and we’re doing our best to support him through this developmental leap.
